…speaking through art, poetry and humour…oh and politics too!

Karina Hansen

Taken from the Justice for karina Hansen Facebook page:

“Karina Hansen is a 24 year old who is suffering from, a misunderstood and much maligned illness called, myalgic encephalomyelitis. She has a very severe form of the illness, which leaves her bedridden, in terrible pain, and constant exhaustion.

February 12, 2013, Danish doctors from the Hammel Neurocenter forcibly removed her from her home and family. She has not been permitted to see her parents, or lawyer and so far the family has been given no valid explanation as to why they cannot visit.

The psychiatrists involved appear to believe that M.E. is a psychological illness, when it has been a proven to be a medical illness since 1969. There are international guidelines available for treatment, but still, Karina has not been released.

Karina is too sick to stop them mistreating her, even though she does not wish to be there. She called her mother via her cell phone on February 13th and said ” How can I get out of here? I can’t take this.”
